Amavi, Tattoos and Piercings.

Whilst getting a bit more of my own tattoo done, Alexi asked me if I would like to photograph the

tattooists and piercers at work. I was only to happy to accept.

I wanted to do the shoot in available light for two reasons; One, I did not want to distract anyone with a flash going off, you can imagine the consequences. Two, I felt it was the only way to capture the atmosphere of the studio.

In order to achieve this I used Agfa 400 asa film pushed two stops to 1600asa. This gave me just enough film speed for the low light conditions, and also adding a bit of graininess to the shots.

The final prints were done on Fomabrom variant 112 fibre based paper and mounted onto foam board, with no frames.

Piercing is his job.

The customers being worked on did not want their faces in the shots, fair enough.
